The Senator John A. DeFrancisco Young Artist Program
 

Program Description and Deadline

The Young Artist Program is dedicated to advancing the professional goals of aspiring talented young people by providing limited financial assistance administered by the Cultural Resources Council. This is an ongoing program with the application deadline for the 1st Round: May 15, 2008

 

Eligibility: K-12 Grade:

Students must demonstrate a definite talent in the area of arts and culture

There are four areas through which aspiring artists and their parents may apply: Special achievement honorarium, Portfolio Development, Advanced/Ongoing Study, Summer Intensives.

 

Application Procedure and What your Application Packet Contains:

·      Part A:  Vital Statistics page to be filled in and signed by applicant and parent- Information on applicant

·      Part B: list of questions and support material needed from the applicant and sponsor, and descriptions of the four categories and amounts available..

Decisions: Note: this is a competitive process, and decisions will be made by a panel of professional artists and arts administrators. Applicants will be notified via mail no later than June 09, 2008

 

Note: Payments will be made directly to the instructors, studios, organizations attended by the student.

Community Arts Grants
 

The Council's Community Arts Grants Program funds individual artists and not-for-profit organizations throughout Onondaga, Cortland and Oswego Counties. Through these programs we ensure the cultural vitality and vibrancy of neighborhoods, towns, villages and cities while supporting the work of local artists and organizations. The Council also provides technical assistance with other grant and fellowship opportunities.


Community Arts Grant Program for 2008-2009
Funds are available for all not-for-profit organizations, including service organizations and units of government, and individual artists in Onondaga, Oswego and Cortland Counties that wish to increase cultural awareness by presenting artistic and cultural events to benefit the public.

All disciplines including, but not limited to, theater, dance, music, film, video, literature, visual arts, folk arts, historical and culturally specific events will be considered. All applicants, past and new, must attend an information session before applying. Applications will not be accepted if this requirement is not met. The information sessions are free and open to the public. The dates and times will be scheduled for the summer of 2008.
